„We can reach a scenario of 6,000 infected people a day.“
This was predicted by the Chief State Inspector Assoc. Prof. Angel Kunchev on the air of “NOVA. He noted that the number „R“ is increasing – 10 people infect 12.
„If some people think this is the worst situation, they are very wrong. In our country there may be between seven and eight times higher morbidity. We can easily reach at least 5000-6000 infected per day. This is happening in a number of European countries at the moment.“
According to the expert, the closure of cities is an extremely extreme measure without any effect. However, he does not rule out the option to introduce restrictions on individual sites, companies and houses in certain settlements.
Associate Professor Kunchev also commented on the case of the deceased woman in Plovdiv, after the refusal of five hospitals to hospitalize her. According to him, it is not a person’s duty to seek a hospital when he needs help. He pointed out that from now on each medical institution will have a specialized COVID ward.
„There can be no more exceptions. Hospitals that refuse to accept a patient but have had a bed will be punished. We have done our best and the people are very tired.“
The next step is to close nightclubs, gatherings for any occasion, and stadiums, said Associate Professor Kunchev. According to him, for the surgical mask to be effective and safe, it should be changed every 2-3 hours.
