The director of the Plovdiv Customs, Miroslav Belyashki, was arrested this morning, Plovdiv24.bg reported. Police officers entered the office and the director’s home.
According to unconfirmed information from the police, the arrest is for patronizing a new cigarette smuggling channel, which is linked to Nikola Nikolov – Paskal, who is evading Bulgarian justice.
The Customs Agency press office said it was currently refraining from comment. The state prosecution has also not yet issued a statement.
Recall that Belyashki has held the post since March 2024, replacing Petya Bankova. She, in turn, was arrested 2 weeks after that.
