The restaurants will open their doors for customers on March 1. This became clear after a meeting between representatives of the sector and the Minister of Health Prof. Kostadin Angelov.

Earlier, at an extraordinary government meeting, Prime Minister Boyko Borissov asked Angelov to meet with the industry and discuss possible solutions. This came just a day after the sector demanded the resignation of the health minister. According to them, he is not fighting the coronavirus, but the restaurants.

Today, the sector said that they have met understanding and consensus. At the same time, most of the issues that concern them are not within Angelov’s competence because they are economic. They will be discussed at a meeting with Prime Minister Boyko Borissov and his team.

The industry is adamant that they want predictability and receive the promised compensation, which has not yet been paid. They were told that this would happen. Whether this will happen remains to be seen, because many promises have been heard before, but the results are there – the funds should not be given to those who need them. Thus, many restaurateurs are facing bankruptcy, others have already gone bankrupt, and the people who work in the restaurants are without funds. And all this thanks to the rulers.

Now the restaurateurs have emphasized that they have insisted not on when to open and when to close, but to receive their compensation – as has happened across Europe.

The meeting also discussed the option of nightclubs to work again from March 14 – two weeks after the rest. The sector said it was not clear why a restaurant outside a hotel was currently more dangerous than a hotel. And they wanted to know where the increase in morbidity was due to the holidays that had been talked about so much.
